UFC stars Dustin Poirier and Dan Hooker were left with ailing faces when the two were hospitalized after a brutal five-round exchange in yesterday’s main event.
The couple made headlines at the UFC’s Apex Center in Las Vegas and put on a thriller in front of an empty arena as both men released their hands in a wild fight, The Sun reports.
Poirier, who was behind after the first two rounds, came back to convince the judges that he deserved a unanimous point win.
After losing, Hooker posted a video online with a badly bruised face and said, “Hi everyone, just back at the hotel with the boys.
“Having a feast was just checked out of the hospital, everything is fine, just a few stitches on the eye.
“But hey, that’s the game we play without worry.
“Just a little setback and then I’ll be back.”
Poirier also announced that he had gone to the hospital and had an image in an ambulance entitled “25 minutes! Fully paid! “
The lightweight, who lost to Master Chabib Nurmagomedow last year, returns to the cover after his classic with Hooker.
Poirier said: “It was a difficult question, Dan came to fight. He is a tough guy. He is on the rise. He really thought he would get past me. I trusted my team, my skills and my work ethic.
“Maybe I’ll fight at the end of the year. Maybe I’ll fight next year.
“Now that I’m a winner again, I want to go back to the drawing board. I just want to do it right and do everything right. “
