Sheffield United and Arsenal met for the last time in the FA Cup in March 2005 in a replay of the fifth round; after a goalless draw, the Gunners won 4-2 on penalties at Bramall Lane. Arsenal have won only one of their last eight away games against Sheffield United in all competitions (D4 L3), a 3-0 win in October 2007 in the League Cup. Arsenal have won the English Cup in three of the six seasons in which they have eliminated Sheffield United (1935-36, 2002-03 and 2004-05).

Sheffield United goalkeeper Dean Henderson and defender John Egan are available for the quarter-finals of the FA Cup against Arsenal. Defender Jack O’Connell has missed all three games since football resumed but could show up after an injury.

Arsenal defender David Luiz is available after a ban, but Bernd Leno, Calum Chambers and Gabriel Martinelli are all out on knee injury. Lucas Torreira and Pablo Mari (ankle) are out and Cedric Soares is in doubt.

Sheffield United last played in a 2013-14 English Cup quarter-final as a League One team, winning 2-0 against Charlton Athletic to progress to that season’s semi-final, where they lost 5- 3 against Hull City. Sheffield United’s six FA Cup goals this season have been scored by several players (Robinson, Clarke, Besic, Norwood, McGoldrick, Sharp); the last time they had the most scorers in a season in 2013-14 (nine). This is the 35th game of Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder, manager of the FA Cup, but only his second against a Premier League team: the Blades lost 1-0 against Leicester City in the fifth round in 2017-18.

Arsenal have gone from 13 of their last 15 games to the FA Cup quarter-finals, losing in this round in 2010-11 against Manchester United and 2015-16 against Watford. Eddie Nketiah has scored in all four of his national cup appearances this season for Leeds United and Arsenal, scoring four goals. In his career, Nketiah has scored six goals in eight national cup (FA / League Cup) games, averaging one goal every 83 minutes.

Neither Leicester nor Chelsea are worried about an injury in Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-finals. Midfielder Dennis Praet is available again, but defenders Daniel Amartey (ankle) and Ricardo Pereira (Achille) are out.

Chelsea are still without defender Fikayo Tomori and striker Callum Hudson-Odoi, although the latter is back in training. Midfielder Jorginho could present a recent suspension.

Leicester is winless in all eight previous England Cup matches against Chelsea (D2 L6), coming out of the quarterfinals in their last two games against the Blues in 2011-12 and 2017-18. Chelsea have only faced Hull City (11 games) and Burnley (nine) more often in the FA Cup without losing their eight undefeated games against Leicester. Leicester has been eliminated from all 10 National Cup draws against Chelsea (four League Cups, six FA Cups), a team’s worst joint record against an opponent in the English Cup / League Cup draws, along with Stoke City vs Liverpool (eliminated in all 10 ties). Chelsea have lost only two of their last 20 games against Leicester in all competitions (W13 D5 L2), although they are winless in four against the Foxes (D3 L1).

Leicester are looking to reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup for the first time since the 1981-82 campaign – they have since been eliminated in the four quarter finals of the FA Cup, with the latter two against Chelsea. Brendan Rodgers has yet to beat Chelsea in his managerial career in 14 previous attempts (D8 L6) – the only other team he has faced more than twice without winning is Wolves (five games).

This is the 18th quarter final of the Chelsea FA Cup in the Premier League era (from 1992-93), more than any other team. They went from six of the previous seven, losing the other in 2015-16 in Everton. Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley has been involved in 50% (3/6) of his FA Cup goals this season (two goals, one assist) – the only season he has been directly involved in was in 2015 -16 with Everton (two goals, two assists), with those two assists that challenge Chelsea in the quarterfinals.

The teams have been paired together in the FA Cup eight times, with Newcastle having won six of those draws. The last two FA Cup matches, in 1995 and 2002, have produced home wins for Newcastle. Manchester City’s only FA City victory at St James’ Park came in the fourth round in 1977, when Joe Royle was among the scorers in a 3-1 triumph.

Nabil Bentaleb is suspended for Newcastle after accumulating two yellow cards in the FA Cup. The Magpies will monitor Matty and Sean Longstaff, while Matt Ritchie and Isaac Hayden also have doubts about injuries.

Fernandinho is banned for Manchester City, while Sergio Aguero remains out. City will evaluate Phil Foden and Joao Cancelo, none of whom were fit enough to be involved against Chelsea, while John Stones, Claudio Bravo and Eric Garcia will also be monitored.

Newcastle have not eliminated the FA Cup holders since 1957, although it was against Manchester City, which beat 5-4 after extra time in a third-round replay on Maine Road. The Magpies reached this stadium for the first time since 2006, when they lost 1-0 to Chelsea. Their last quarter-final victory was against Tottenham in 2005, thanks to a goal by Patrick Kluivert. The Magpies have scored 11 FA Cup goals this season, more than any other top team before the quarterfinals. Miguel Almiron has scored four goals in his five appearances in the FA Cup, compared to two in 40 Premier League games.

Manchester City have won their last nine FA Cup games, scoring 35 goals and conceding just four times. The city could lose three consecutive away games in the league and the Cup for the first time since October 2016. Bernardo Silva has four goals and four assists in his last 10 appearances in the FA Cup.
