Chelsea handed over Kai Havertz’s warning after a £ 20 million transfer hike

Bayer Leverkusen failed to qualify for the Champions League despite a 1-0 victory over Mainz as the Bundesliga season ended.

Kevin Volland handed over the victory of the German team, but Leverkusen had to settle for fifth place when the RB Leipzig defeated Augusta and Borussia Mönchengladbach took the victory over Hertha Berlin.

Could this have had an impact on Kai Havertz’s future? Reports suggest that Leverkusen had asked for a tax in the region of £ 90 million, but their inability to qualify for the first European competition could see the figure approaching Chelsea’s £ 70 million rating.

However, speaking after the clash, Bayer Leverkusen boss Peter Bosz did not seem concerned about the prospect of Havertz’s departure

Bosz said: “I don’t think he’s thinking too much about the transfer.

“I certainly don’t have the impression that this will be his last game for the club. He is still under contract with us and I have to assume that he will be with us next season too.

“This will include the German Cup final next month and the next Europa League game against the Rangers in August.

“Of course, it all depends on nothing happening before then.”

Frank Lampard was asked about the prospect of landing the Bundesliga star, but was not commissioned in his press conference.

The Blues boss said: “He is a top player but we will certainly not comment on players from other teams.

“It can’t be our goal. No offer has entered.”
