Charlie Nicholas is back with his latest Premier League prediction series, and is dropping wins for Crystal Palace and Manchester United.
Crystal Palace vs Burnley, Monday – 8.00pm
Burnley was quite poor. It will be a struggle for them to come to an end, with the current contractual situation telling you too. They just don’t have the right things. Sean Dyche appears to have received a reaction from his Burnley players in their close win over Watford, so they have improved thanks to the Manchester City shots.

Crystal Palace was terrible in Liverpool. They were sorted on the ball in parts that didn’t matter. Wilfried Zaha is injured, so it will be a great defeat for them. I don’t want to jump everywhere in this game, and it’s hard to choose the bones. There won’t be many goals. Palace is still looking for Europe, but it doesn’t have enough to get anywhere. They will get victory in this though.

This is what tells me where Manchester United is located. Normally they would have fought in the past on teams like Brighton, where they dropped 3-2 at Amex last season. However, four out of six points are magical after Brighton restarts and give them room to breathe, depending on what happens with the other teams around them. The gap with others is still not enough as it is.

United have been impressive. Anthony Martial does what it does. It looks poor for a week and it’s the next lesson. Bruno Fernandes’ skill and movement have been excellent, while Paul Pogba can provide the three ahead. I like the balance of Mason Greenwood, who comes out from the right like a left. Rhythm and movement are so precious at this time of the season, while the teams are still trying to find their feet.

Teams have to play deeper against United, but when you get the ball, it’s hard to hit forward and have the midfielders to stand up and support, and that’s where United can get above you. All these things add up to let you know that United could have steel now. Themselves, Chelsea and Wolves are in hell of a fight. They may not be so strong away from home but the belief is growing and, when they have it, it becomes irreplaceable and sometimes too difficult to manage. They are ready for a good run-in.
