Artūrs Visockis-Rubenis could train the “Liepāja” team in the future

Last season, 34-year-old Visockis-Rubenis led the titled “Ventspils” team, which took fourth place at the end of the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League tournament, but stopped in the FIBA ​​European Cup in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, after the withdrawal of the Valga-Valka team from the combined league, the people of Liepaja were the last among the 14 remaining teams in the table. Since November, the wind city unit has been headed by Serbian specialist Bransislav Vicenti.

Visockis-Rubenis started his coaching career in professional basketball in 2011, when he became the head coach of the University of Latvia, but in 2016 he joined the Ogre team, which last year took him to bronze medals.

Visockis-Rubenis has led Latvian youth teams of several age groups. Under his leadership, the Latvian U-18 national team won silver medals at the European Championship in Riga last year, starting a year later in the U-19 World Cup.

In 2015, the coach also led the Latvian U-16 youth team, where he won the 11th place in the European Championship. He has also worked as an assistant head coach of the Latvian men’s basketball team and has also helped the women’s national team.

Under the leadership of Visock-Rubenis, this summer individual trainings will be conducted by several basketball players of the Latvian national team.
