According to Major League Soccer, 20 players and six club employees tested positive for COVID-19 before the “MLS is Back Tournament”, which is scheduled to start on July 8th.

A total of 668 players have been tested since resuming full team training on June 4, with 18 tested positive before traveling to the Disney World Resort in Florida for the tournament.

MLS said in a statement on Sunday that two other players, upon arrival in Orlando for the tournament, which will be without fans, have tested positive for the corona virus and will crown a winner on August 11th.

“Anyone who tests positive … while in Orlando will undergo a clinical assessment by a healthcare provider and move to the hotel’s isolation area until they receive medical approval,” said MLS.

“During isolation, MLS players and other employees will communicate with and receive remote controls daily … including symptom monitoring and regular follow-up visits.”

This is comparable to the Premier League, in which a total of 18 people from 12,057 tests (0.14 percent) have tested positive since they started mass testing all players and employees in May.
