Jeff Goodman at the Stadium has a good story today with comments from NBA officials on the many players who are entering or even considering the upcoming NBA Draft. That group obviously includes five former Kentucky Wildcats, plus another if you count Kahlil Whitney, and all six players have been discussed.
What stands out most is the scouting report on EJ Montgomery, one of the two former cats in the “They say they’re ready, but leaving school would be a mistake” talent category by Goodman.
“We don’t even have it in our Top 100, “said an NBA executive. “I have no idea what he’s thinking.”
Kahlil Whitney is the other ex cat who was supposed to stay in college.
“He messed up when he left Kentucky in January or whatever it was. He should have moved. He could also go to high school in the new G League program because that’s what he needs, “said an NBA executive.
Tyrese Maxey, Nick Richards and Immanuel Quickley made the right moves, according to this particular story, and Ashton Hagans was a split decision.
“I think he was a first-runner in the 1920s. He has to improve with his shot, but he’s an excellent defender on the ball,” said Hagans.
Read the other guys in Goodman’s story here. Pretty interesting stuff on cats and many others. Nice work, Jeff.
