Lakers’ LeBron James says the layoff isn’t good for his 35-year-old body

    LeBron James says that players will need a week or two of training before resuming games once the NBA has been canceled to continue its season. <span class=(Katelyn Mulcahy / Getty Images)“src =”–/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTcwNTtoPTQ3MA–/ – / https: // “hg / yr55 / 60 / it /YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTcwNTtoPTQ3MA/kw_qxu/qf_qsq – ~ B / aD01NjA7dz04NDA7c209MTthcHBpZD15dGFjaHlvbg – / https: // “/>

LeBron James doesn’t want to know more about how a program rupture due to the coronavirus pandemic could be beneficial to his 35-year-old body.

“It’s actually the opposite for me,” said James. “My body when we stopped playing was like ‘what the hell are you doing?’ “

James made the comments during a nearly hour-long “Road Trippin” podcast, published on Uninterrupted, his digital platform. He was a guest on the podcast that regularly features his former teammates Richard Jefferson and Channing Frye, along with Spectrum SportsNet studio host Allie Clifton.

Among the topics discussed by James were his daily life, how it would have been a quarantine for him to grow, how the Lakers keep in touch with each other and for what timeline he was given when things change.

“The only timeline we have been given with regards to training is that I will be allowed to train again with Mike Mancias on Monday, which will be the two weeks away from the quarantine they put us in after we got there. everyone testing the nets had four guys who proved positive, “said James. “… I just trained. I trained five days a week and I’m ready. What they always say. Get ready when your number is called.”

James was most visible in his second week of quarantine. He held a Q&A on Instagram last week. Its Foundations “The Promise Schools, which is closed together with other Ohio schools, sent tacos to 343 of their families on Tuesday.

So on Wednesday night, while sitting in his cellar, James joined his old friends.

After hearing that he was recording from his basement, Jefferson and Frye both joked, “Me too,” while laughing.

They discussed possible ways in which the NBA could restart and prepare for the playoffs. James suggested a one or two week training camp followed by five to 10 games to end the regular season. James said less training could work if the only goal was to end the regular season, but players’ bodies would need time to adapt before the playoffs.

“My body was like ‘Hey, man, what the hell is going on? It is March 13th. You are preparing for the playoffs. Why are you closing down? ‘”James said.” I was right around the corner. I feel like I’m on third base. “

He thwarted this break with the blockade in 2011, which delayed the start of the season rather than suspended in the middle.

James said players could still get together to play basketball during the lockout, which they can’t do now. The gyms were open, while the coronavirus pandemic closed most of the public and private gyms. James discussed his hope that the players were doing everything possible to train at home, with sit-ups and push-ups or by running up and down their stairs.

“How many hours does it take you to run around your compound?” Frye jokingly asked James.

    “Dude, shut up,” said James.

James acknowledged that staying in his home – a Brentwood home – is easier than most people are experiencing.

“I just got back to my childhood, my mother and I,” said James, who has been unstable for most of his childhood. “It would have been hell. … At the end of the day it’s not for me to ask people to stay home. Take care of yourself and understand. Get away from large groups of people. Complete strangers. Now it’s spring. Everyone thinks it’s the spring break, time to get around strangers. It’s not that time. “
