HEATON Park golf course will reopen after its long-term future seemed to have been called into question.
The historic 18-hole course, together with the pitch and putt course and the club house, were forced to close for the second time in just over a year, four months ago.
However, a new operator has now been found: PGA golf professional and golf director Andrew Terry, and his business partner and chief financial officer, Joe Jackson.
The couple also currently runs the nearby Marland Golf Course in Rochdale.
In a social media statement, Heaton Park & Hall said: “Work has been undertaken to keep the greens to their usual standard in recent months and we are extremely grateful for the staff involved.
“It’s an exciting new chapter and we can’t wait to welcome previous and new golfers.”
Takeover comes after the Heaton Park golf course was forced to close last October, when the interim operator scheme for Green Circles ended.
This happened only 12 months after the collapse of its previous owner, Mack Trading.
An unsuccessful tender had taken place, but no potential permanent operators were identified who would have been able to manage the site without the need for a subsidy from the City of Manchester.
The course on Middleton Road, Prestwich, will reopen on Friday.
