NEW YORK – Fifteen years ago, “Morimoto” was opened in Chelsea, bringing contemporary Japanese cuisine to the spotlight here in the city.
Now, the restaurant has announced that it will close its doors this spring.
The group of restaurants that run “Morimoto” says the 10th Avenue location will close at the end of its lease in May.
The flagship is still open in Philadelphia.
The restaurant is led by chef Masaharu Morimoto, a world-class Japanese culinary master known for his appearances in the “Iron Chef” show.
Chef Morimoto will still maintain a presence in the city.
Momosan Ramen & Sake, its well-known ramen restaurant line, has a location in Midtown and another is open in Park Slope.
