Former Tottenham forward Darren Bent urged his old club to sign Samuel Umtiti from Barcelona this month.
The Spurs have already completed one signing this window after bringing Gedson Fernandes from Benfica with an initial 18-month loan, with them also being able to make the deal permanent for around £ 55 million in 2021.
However, rumors have also been circulating in recent weeks linking Jose Mourinho’s team with a potential blow to the French defender, with him falling out of favor at Camp Nou.
Arsenal has also been linked with the 26-year-old, but the Spurs are in desperate need to improve their back with Jan Vertonghen who will soon leave the club as a free agent in the summer.

And Bent believes that Mourinho and Spurs should do everything they can to bring Umtiti into the club.
“If they can get it [Samuel] Umtiti, wow, “the former British international told Football Insider.
“He’s big, strong, powerful and good on the ball, and he’s someone [Jose] Mourinho can be trusted.
“He has played in big games, he has won big competitions, obviously the World Cup which is great.
“If it was offered, it means it might not cost too much, so I would take their hand away.”
