A tour of rapid characteristics and for specialists in the discipline. “We have been wanting to regain an individual time trial for many years, and the Pla de l’Estany stage is ideal for us to see a magnificent show during the Centenary Volta. It will be a very intense time trial, where the best cyclists in the world will have to be tested, “said Rubèn Peris, President of the Cycling Tour in Catalonia. For his part, the Mayor of Banyoles, Miquel Noguer, stated that “we are very excited that Banyoles can once again collaborate with the Cycling Tour of Catalonia, especially in this centenary edition, and that it is also with a test of the characteristics of an individual time trial. “
In fact, apart from the prologues made in Lloret de Mar (2008 – 2009 – 2010), the last time the individual clock was made was in 2007, a 17.1 kilometer time-climb between Sornàs and Vallnord Arcalís, in Andorra, where the Russian Denis Menchov prevailed. The Cycling Tour of Catalonia has been linked up to a total of 19 times to the population of Banyoles, with 10 stage departures and nine arrivals.
