Syracuse, New York – Syracuse’s defense baffled Boston College and Orange slowed the Eagles 76-50 on Wednesday night at the Carrier Dome.
Syracuse blocked Boston College right from the opening tip, keeping the Eagles without a field goal for the first eight minutes of the game. Orange held just 13 points in the first half BC.
The Eagles lost their first 18 3-point attempts. Boston College guard Julian Rishwain finally made a trey with 13:40 left in the game.
Orange limited Boston College to 35 percent by shooting from the field and the Eagles finished the game 6-for-31 (19 percent) with 3 pointers.
Syracuse won its first ACC home game after dropping its first three home games for conferences. Orange is now 10-7 in total and 3-3 in the conference.
Boston College dropped to 9-8 for the season and 3-3 in the league.

Buddy Boeheim scored 22 points, 15 in the first half. He went 4 by 7 by 3 points. He was just shy of his career high of 26, which he set at Georgia Tech earlier this season.
Elijah Hughes scored 19 points in 7-for-14.
Marek Dolezaj recorded his second double double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Boston College’s top scorer Derryck Thornton started the game on Wednesday. He had lost two previous BC games with an ankle sprain. Thornton, however, showed the effects of the injury and lost time. He missed his first five shots and didn’t score until he made a jump in midfield just over three minutes in the second half.
The 38-13 lead in the Syracuse range has been the biggest over an ACC opponent since joining the conference for the 2013-14 season.
Syracuse decided the game with its defensive effort in the first half. Boston College has lost all 14 of its 3-point attempts in the middle. The Eagles have made only five of their 27 field goal attempts in total.
Fights began from the outset for Boston College, which missed its first 10 pitches from the field. The first basket made by the Eagles arrived on a Steffon Mitchell sweater after eight minutes of play.
Buddy Boeheim passed Boston College alone in the first half. Syracuse’s second year scored 15 points in the first half, including seven halfway through the game to open the game. Boeheim’s 7-0 lead to Orange an 18-7 lead with 7 minutes remaining before half.
