PSV has reached an agreement with FC Cincinnati about a transfer from Gastón Pereiro, the Eindhovens Dagblad and Voetbal International report Wednesday evening. The Uruguayan must still come to an agreement with the American club of trainer Ron Jans.
The 24-year-old Pereiro has an expiring contract with PSV and he does not want to renew. The Eindhoven club must therefore sell it this winter to prevent it from leaving in the summer without a transfer.
It is not clear what FC Cincinnati wants to pay for Pereiro, who is said to be able to earn considerably more in the MLS. The question is whether Pereiro and his agent see FC Cincinnati as the right step in the career of the attacker, who has been playing for PSV since 2015. The club, which has a Dutch director alongside trainer Jans with Gerard Nijkamp, ended last season in the Eastern Conference.
In his first four years, Pereiro usually had a base place in the Philips Stadium, but this season he only played four Eredivisie games so far. Last summer PSV thought they could sell the nine-time international for a lot of money to Spartak Moscow, but that transfer failed.

Possibly Thursday a definitive answer about Rodríguez
PSV Jeroen Zoet lost on Tuesday to FC Utrecht, which rents the goalkeeper for the rest of the season. Toni Lato also left Eindhoven this winter. The Spanish left back, who was hired from Valencia, did not play for a minute in the Eredivisie and signed with Osasuna.
On the other hand, PSV wants to take over left back Ricardo Rodríguez from AC Milan. It is possible that on Thursday there will be a decision about the Swiss international, which is also in Fenerbahçe’s interest.
PSV will resume the Eredivisie on Sunday with a away game at 12.15 against VVV-Venlo. The game in De Koel is led by referee Danny Makkelie.
