Athletic Phil Hay said the left back has been a problem for Leeds United for the past month or so, which has led many white fans to ask Leif Davis for a chance.

Leeds have struggled since the start of the holiday season, winning only once since December 10th.

That race saw them lose their place at the top of the championship and meant that the gap between them and third place Brentford closed just six points.

Writing for The Athletic, Hay suggested that the left back was a problematic position during that time and that Leeds faces a family dilemma, with a number of options available but none that seem to “put the position to bed”.

One man who was not mentioned by Hay was Davis, an Academy product who has had some chances with the first team this season.

The 20-year-old has made three league appearances this season and has started twice in the Carabao Cup.

Davis, who joined Morecambe in 2018, has shown in his short appearances that he has athleticism to play the position, but the jury remains out on how he would manage week after week in the league.
