Former Grenat captain Kevin Romy will return to the Vernets for the Geneva-Servette – Lugano match, a poster between two clubs that have marked the former international’s career.
The GSHC will take the opportunity to pay tribute to number 88, who retired from sport in July 2019, after wearing the Geneva jersey 482 times and also played 339 games under that of HC Lugano (between 2005 and 2012 ), with whom he also won the title of Swiss champion in 2006, the last coronation of the club from Ticino. With Geneva, Romy has twice won the Spengler Cup (2013 and 2014).
151 international capes
Trained at HC La Chaux-de-Fonds, Romy has been one of the most gifted players in French history, as shown by his 434 points (177 goals, 257 assists) in 840 elite matches. Le Chaux-de-Fonnier is also the 20th most capped player in Swiss hockey with 151 selections (11 goals, 30 assists), including participation in the Olympic Games (in 2014 in Sochi) and seven world championships to its credit.
Chris McSorley, who brought him to Geneva in 2002, and current president Laurent Strawson, will honor one of the greatest players in Swiss club and hockey history at the Vernets on Tuesday evening.
