The meeting in the semifinals of the international freestyle wrestling tournament in Istanbul, the representative of Georgia Zurab Erbotsanashvili and the Ukrainian wrestler Hassan Zakariyev ended with a mass brawl and disqualification of athletes, RIA Novosti reports.
In the semifinals of the competition in the weight category up to 79 kg, the Georgian wrestler Zurab Erbotsonashvili beat the Ukrainian with a score of 8: 5. 10 seconds before the final siren, the representative of Ukraine Hassan Zakariyev used a forbidden method – hit the Georgian wrestler in the face. The incident outraged the athletes of both teams and their coaches, who also came into conflict and started a mass brawl.
The winner of the tournament has not been established, as both athletes are disqualified.
In January last year, the athletic commission of the US state of Nevada disqualified for nine months the Russian mixed-style fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov for a brawl after a fight with Irishman Conor McGregor. Nurmagomedov defended the UFC lightweight champion belt on October 7, 2018 in Las Vegas, defeating the Irishman with a choke. After the fight, the Russian fighter provoked a massive brawl in the auditorium.
