Cross-country skier Dominik Baldauf, who was exposed in the course of “Operation Phlebotomy”, was sentenced to five months’ probation by the Innsbruck Regional Court for serious commercial sports fraud. Previously, the 27-year-old Austrian had pleaded guilty in part and admitted blood doping and the use of growth hormones. Soon is one of the 23 athletes involved in the scandal. According to the prosecution, the sponsors were harmed. Baldauf’s defense lawyer rejected this. Employees of the association and the ski company had known about doping, there could be no question of deception.
