Claude Makelele is leading Chelsea’s push to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Kays Ruiz-Atil, reportedly in France.
The seventeen year old has not yet made his debut for PSG but has appeared for the French club at a youth level.
RMC Sport reports that Makelele has now expressed interest in signing Ruiz-Atil and has been in Paris to witness PSG’s 3-3 draw against Monaco on Sunday.
The report says Chelsea have not yet taken an approach, but PSG is open to the possibility of Ruiz-Atil’s departure.
Ruiz-Atil joined PSG from Barcelona in 2015, but the midfielder is now looking to leave the club before summer.
The current Ruiz-Atil contract with PSG expires in 2021 and negotiations have started on a new agreement.
But now it seems that the midfielder will try to leave the French champions, leaving the door open for a move to Chelsea.
RMC Sport reports that some PSG figures are not happy with Makelele’s presence, while the potential passage of Ruiz-Atil to Stamford Bridge is discussed within the club.
Makelele, who made 217 appearances during his playing career for Chelsea, was taken to Stamford Bridge in August to become a technical mentor for the club’s Academy players.
