Arsenal are preparing to face Sheffield United on Saturday, with the Gunners desperately needing three points.

Mikel Arteta’s team drew 1-1 against Crystal Palace last weekend to further lose their pace in the hunt for the top four places, but the Gunners will try to record their third consecutive win at the Emirates in all competitions.

Elsewhere, the January transfer window is in its third week, with Arsenal still connected to various players.

Arsenal speaks openly about the PSG defender

According to RMC Sport, Arsenal have started discussions with Paris Saint-Germain for defender Layvin Kurzawa.

The defender is out of contract in the summer and reportedly the Gunners have begun discussing a five-year contract for the full back.

The report also states that Arsenal could also make an offer to PSG this month for the 27-year-old.

Arteta confirms the transfer wish list

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that he has a wish list when it comes to Gunners’ affairs in the January transfer window.

However, he denied that the Gunners are attempting to sign Manchester City defender John Stones or Milan midfielder Franck Kessie.

The Gunners coach was asked for transfers during his pre-game press conference ahead of the game against Sheffield United in the Premier League this weekend.

And he gave a clear answer when he was questioned about a couple of reported transfer targets.

Mikel Arteta responds to John Stones transfer link

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta spoke of the Gunners’ interest in signing Manchester City and England defender John Stones.

The Manchester City defender has been linked with a transfer to North London, having found his opportunities so far limited this season at Etihad Stadium.

Stones has made 14 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s team this season, with his last coming Sunday when Manchester City beat Aston Villa 6-1 in the Premier League at Villa Park.

But he found himself on the sidelines for most of the campaign, amid injury problems and not being the first choice for Guardiola. Read here
