Four Hills Tournament 2019/2020: Today, on December 29th, 2019, it is getting serious with one of the most important events of the sports winter: In Oberstdorf runs the first round of scoring.

The ski jumper Stefan Kraft from Austria yesterday in Oberstdorf won the qualification for the first competition on the Four Hills Tournament. At 136 meters he jumped half a meter shorter than the Japanese Junshiro Kobayashi, but got more points.

Yesterday’s qualification leads to exciting duels from the German perspective for the opening competition. Stefan Kraft is competing today against his teammate Gregor Schlierenzauer, who has always delivered good jumps this season. The Willinger Stephan Leyhe meets the Slovenian Tilen Bartol, a feasible opponent. Markus Eisenbichler, on the other hand, gets along with Daniel André Tande Norway an ungrateful rival. Karl Geiger meets Philipp Raimund, his teammate.

Twelve German athletes participated in the qualification. Karl Geiger is considered the top German jumper. The other stages of the ski jumping competition are Garmisch-Partenkirchen. innsbruck and Bischofshofen.

Winning these four Ski jumping in a row in a year is called Grand Slam. The overall winner of the Four Hills Tournament is the one who gets the most points from the four events. Unlike the World Cup rankings, however, the actual points scored during competitions are used to determine the winner.

Review of the 4-hill tour: historical and trivia

In 2005/06, Janne Ahonen and Jakub Janda shared the overall victory after finishing the same number of points after the four competitions. In the years 2001-2002, the anniversary edition for the 50th anniversary of the Four Hills Tournament, Sven Hannawald became the first ski jumper to win all four ski jumps on a tour. In the 2017-18 season, Kamil Stoch was only the second jumper in history to achieve the Grand Slam of ski jumping. Just a year later, in the 2018-19 edition, Ryoyu Kobayashi was the third ski jumper to win the Grand Slam. The four individual events in Oberstdorf, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Innsbruck and Bischofshofen themselves are part of the Ski Jumping World Cup.
