A young man was shot and wounded on the lawn of the Vanterpool stadium in Marigot (Saint-Martin) on Saturday during a football tournament.
While several matches were played in this stadium, an altercation between two young people who were in the stands turned to the settlement of account with the gun, reported witnesses of the scene.
"We were playing when we heard a thud. I thought it was a firecracker but I quickly realized that it was a shot at seeing a young man hold up a gun and pursue his victim on the lawn, "said one of the witnesses in the newspaper Le Pelican.
The victim, aged 15 years according to witnesses, was hit in the abdomen. The teenager was quickly taken care of by players, who gave him first aid, before he was transported to the hospital.
"Fortunately, the days of the young victim are not in danger and there have been no other wounded," said in a statement the president of the community of St. Martin, Daniel Gibbs, who is on the spot.
The latter indicated that "the teenager behind the shot is actively sought by the police". A call for witnesses was launched by the gendarmes to find him.
