Real Madrid loanee Takefusa Kubo scores brilliant first LaLiga goal for Mallorca

If you are going to score your first goal in LaLiga, you may as well do it in style. That's exactly what Takefusa Kubo did this afternoon, scoring Mallorca's third goal of the afternoon against Villarreal. The 18-year-old had acres of space as he picked up a loose ball on the edge of the penalty area and took just one touch to control before rifling a fierce, left-foot shot past Sergio Asenjo's outstretched hand and inside the post. It was an impressive way to open his account in his tenth appearance for the islanders, where he is on loan from Real Madrid. He has played just two full games for Mallorca – against Atlético de Madrid in Week 6 and the following game against Alavés.

Kubo thunderball seals Mallorca win

Despite his young age, Kubo clearly does not lack confidence and caused Villarreal all kinds of problems at Son Moix. His goal came on 52 minutes, after Lago Junior spirit Dani had handed the hosts a 2-1 lead during the first half. Santi Cazorla had pulled one back for the visitors from the penalty spot. Kubo was substituted on 66 minutes, going off to applause from the home crowd as he was replaced by Josep Señé. It'll be a day to remember for the talented teenager, who got off the mark in stunning fashion – one for the family album.

Takefusa Kubo: "I've realized a big dream"

Without any big fuss, Take modestly relived his debut goal when he spoke to Movistar +'s pitchside reporter after the game. "Well, I've realized one of my big dreams but I have to keep working," he explained. "I got better as the game was on. To score, you need to shoot, so I did. It's always better to go into the international break with a win so we're happy about that. How would I mark my own performance out of 10? I would have said 10 but I missed a chance early in the game, so I'll say 9/10 ".
