More than a week. On Monday, September 2nd, at 23:59, the summer transfer window will end. If the show Neymar PSG will continue to punctuate the last days of this transfer market, the other clubs in Ligue 1 are also active.
They did their market
At the top of the basket, Lyon and Lille have achieved a full mercato. OL has made a lot of money with the record sale of Tanguy Ndombele (Tottenham, 62M €), but also those of Ferland Mendy (Real Madrid, 48M €) and Nabil Fekir (Real Betis, 20M €). A financial windfall quickly reinvested. Three summer rookies join the club's top five most expensive purchases: Joachim Andersen, Jeff Queen Adelaide and Thiago Mendes.
The latter brought 22 million euros to Lille, for whom the scenario was quite similar. A large sum obtained, including the sale of Nicolas Pepe party Arsenal for € 80 million. With Rafael Leao, Youssouf Koné or Anwar El-Ghazi, 155 M € were recovered. The LOSC recruited intelligently, keeping a largely positive balance, with the comings of Victor Osimhen, Yusuf Yazici, Benjamin André or Domagoj Bradaric. The Nordiques have also managed a big blow by recruiting the Portuguese European champion Renato Sanches, from Bayern Munich.
Behind, Saint Etienne has also achieved a promising mercato. Despite the departure of Rémy Cabella, the Greens attracted Ryad Boudebouz, Miguel Trauco or Denis Bouanga. Above all, they kept for the season William Saliba, defender bought 30 M € by Arsenal but lent directly to the Greens. Montpellier, another top-10 team, balanced out starts and arrivals. Benjamin Lecomte, Ellyes Shkiri, Ruben Aguilar were supplanted by Geronimo Rulli, Teji Savanier and Arnaud Souquet. Strasbourg was not very active but replaced every important departure. Toulouse was clever to strengthen himself in attack. Still on the west coast, Bordeaux has shielded its defensive sector with the arrival of Laurent Koscielny. Only unknown, the future of François Kamano.
Finally, Amiens has been reinforced by loan returns or clever purchases like Christophe Jallet's. The promoted Metz was not very dynamic, surely advocating the continuity of its past season.
They still have some shopping to do
The Monegasque transfer window has already moved well. Wissam Ben Yedder (Sevilla), Islam Slimani (Leicester), both scorers this Sunday against Nimes, Lecomte, Aguilar (Montpellier) or Henry Onyekuru (Everton) came to regenerate a workforce at the end of the race. And yet, Monaco has not finished with the remodeling of a group that had suffered last season to stay in the elite. Leonardo Jardim would like to see a defensive midfielder arrive, a position he would like to assign to Mario Lemina (Southampton) or a former member of the house, Tiémoué Bakayoko (Chelsea), but neither seems to be excited by this prospect. It was also about giving a little more thickness to a porous defense, a role that was attributed to the central defender Alavés Guillermo Maripan, 25 years old and present at the last Copa America with Chile. If Galatasaray started, Radamel Falcao should not involve a new arrival at the striker position.
For Angers, the last straight must allow the SCO to compensate the departure of his best player in the midfield last year, Reine-Aledaïde, gone to the OL against a record sum for the club picard (25 M € excluding bonus) . The profile of Ludovic Blas (Guingamp) is scrutinized with attention, as Nantes, who has already been active but where Christian Gourcuff would like to bring – at least – an extra personal touch. Dijon must still fill the holes formed by the departures of offensives Kwon Chang-hoon (Freiburg), Wesley Said (Toulouse) and Naim Sliti (Ettifaq FC), while Reims offsetting the movement of goalkeeper Edouard Mendy (Rennes) but not that of central defender Björn Engels (Aston Villa). The other promoted Brest must still be positioned on a reinforcement per line.
They must hurry before closing
For some clubs, time is running out. This is particularly the case for Marseilles, whose ambitions are still not up to the investments made. The OM only released the checkbook to get a scorer, € 14 million for Argentina's Dario Benedetto (Boca Juniors). Central defender Alvaro Gonzalez (Villarreal) was loaned with an option to buy. And the Olympian fans get impatient. But the coach André Villas-Boas was clear this Sunday: "I already said, we have no money" to recruit.
It's also pressing for Nice, whose recruitment was put in parentheses the time that the purchase of the club by Ineos succeeds. It's almost done, and Patrick Vieira hopes to see things move quickly. Adam Ounas (Naples) will be loaned for one year, while the track leading to the promising Kasper Dolberg (Ajax Amsterdam) is hot. Two or three other players should land (Stanley Nsoki, Orel Mangala, Alexis Claude-Maurice …).
AT Nimes, it will be to give the consistency before the bell to an eleven amputee many holders in the offseason, including the essentials Savanier (Montpellier), Rachid Alioui (Angers) and Bouanga (Saint-Etienne). Same problem for Rennes, who saw Ismaïla Sarr (Watford) and Hatem Ben Arfa (no club) leave. The recruitment cell has already found a replacement on the first, but the officialization of a new winger is delayed.
