Real Madrid Doubts over whether he should be loaned out
Zinedine Zidane may have had to leave Real Madrid‘s training camp in Montreal early, but he has seen Brahim Diaz impress prior to that.
The Spanish midfielder was a January arrival from Manchester City but never truly nailed down a spot in the starting XI, and thus was expected to depart on loan this summer.
That potential loan spell was supposed to give him regular football, yet his performances in training so far have shown Zidane something that he could use in the coming campaign.
Brahim can play on both flanks and he is adept at using both feet, this is a valuable skill within a Zidane system and will perhaps be more useful than Lucas Vazquez, simply due to versatility.
Brahim knows that he has an incredible opportunity to secure a regular spot in the Los Blancos team, just like Marco Asensio did in 2016.
The former Manchester City academy graduate just missed the European Under-21 Championship due to an injury, just as his compatriot did three years ago.
One thing which may count against the youngster is his position, as it’s the exact area where Zidane and Florentino Perez need to trim down.
Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Rodrygo have all arrived as part of the club’s vast summer expenditure, whilst there has as of yet been no progress in moving Gareth Bale or Lucas out of the door.
