Neil Lennon answers to Jose Cifuentes question as Celtic boss gives transfer update

Neil Lennon says Jose Cifuentes is on Celtic's "radar" but has kept his cards close to his chest over a potential move for the Ecuador midfielder.

Manchester City are tackling the 20-year-old goal in Ecuador's bid for the Hoops are winning the race for his signature.

Lennon goal denied that a move for the youngster was imminent.

He told BBC Scotland: "I can not confirm there is an interest

"Again, it's a player who we know so much that we've got it all on the radar so that's all I can say on that one."

South American football expert Tim Vickery has urged Celtic to sign the highly-rated kid after he starred for his country at the U20 World Cup.

He said: "He was the beating heart of that side and I think he's a terrific midfielder." He's strong, he's got quality, he's got a good engine – he's one of the best all-round midfielders, potentially, that I've seen come out of South America in a while.

"Get him, sign him on!

"Ecuadorians are only just starting to forge careers in Europe." Antonio Valencia has done a lot to open doors for them, he's just left United and gone back to Ecuador.

"But this fellow Cifuentes strikes the ball well, moves across the field, strong in the tackle, strong on the ball, I like him a lot."
