Juventus has stopped their interest in Paul Pogba, leaving Real Madrid with a clear run by signing Manchester United midfielder £ 150million this summer.
The French World Cup winner has clarified his intention to leave United, but a return to Juventus, where he spent four successful years between 2012 and 2016, will not happen.
Although Pogba was open for a return to Turin, his agent Mino Raiola was informed by Juve's Vice-President Pavel Nedved that they intend to pursue other goals.
It leaves Real as the strong favorites to make Pogba their latest "Galactico". signs if they can match United's valuation and Pogba's salary requirements.
Juventus has already strengthened their midfield this summer with the free signings of Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal and Adrien Rabiot from Paris Saint-Germain.
They are also hoping to make an appointment for Fiorentina playmaker Federico Chiesa, who is eager to join the Italian masters.
Pogba reported to United's pre-season tour of Australia, Singapore and China on Sunday morning despite fear that he would not show up to force through his move away.
He has trained with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his team in Perth in front of two friendly matches against Perth Glory and Leeds United.
Real is now the only club in the race for Pogba who will enjoy the opportunity to play under his compatriot Zinedine Zidane.
The club confirmed yesterday that a member of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's back room staff, who is not yet to be named, receives medical care at the hospital.
Phil Neville's side entered the tournament ranked third in the world but has slipped down the table with Holland replacing them after their adventure ran to the finals.
Meanwhile, Manchester United has gained a boost in their pursuit of Bruno Fernandes after Sporting Lisbon agreed to his replacement.
Portugal's international playmaker, 24, is a summer transfer goal for both clubs, as they seem to be gaining ground in this field.
Fernandes, valued at £ 70million, scored 32 goals and added 18 assistants in all competitions last season and helped his country win the UEFA Nations League.
United officially met Sporting officials to make progress on the deal this week and now report on Italian website Alfredo Pedulla says the Portuguese club has found its replacement.
Manchester City has also been linked to Fernandes this summer. Sporting is closing in on a deal for Palermo's Aleksandar Trajkovski, 26, who is ready to sign a four-year contract.
Trajkovski, an international player for North Macedonia, is versatile enough to play the playmaker role as well as the wing and up front. United will definitely need to fill a hole in the midfield if Paul Pogba gets his wish and completes a £ 150m move to Real Madrid or Juventus this summer. Newcastle United's Sean Longstaff is another option, but Old Trafford's chiefs are reportedly amazed by his £ 50m price tag.
