Indian cricket fans were heartbreaking when Team India crashed out of the World Cup during the first semifinal on Old Trafford on Wednesday after losing 18 flights to New Zealand.

On the hunt for a modest target of 240, the Indian top order suffered a stunning batting collapse to make the team collapse 24 for four.

But the fans knew that MS Dhoni was the man who could bring them to the finish in a smashing semi-final. Dhoni came in after Dinesh Karthik's resignation after the India score had read 71 for 5.

Dhoni scored 50 and added 106 runs for the seventh wicket with Ravindra Jadeja. Without Dhoni and of course Jadeja, India would have suffered a much greater defeat in the semi-final against New Zealand.

Ravindra Jadeja fell to Trent Boult for a brave 77 but with MS Dhoni in the fold, there was still a belief that India would be able to knock down the total and redeem a ticket to the final of the Lord on July 14 .

But when Martin Guptill's direct throw hit the stumps to leave India & # 39; s wicket-keeper, India lost all hope for a World Cup final qualification.

MS Dhoni was criticized for his strike percentage and strike rotation in the Cricket World Cup of 2019 when India fought against New Zealand in the semi-final. Dhoni again showed why he is still important for the team's balance.

As MS Dhoni reportedly announced his departure from cricket at the end of the World Cup, fans around the world have made emotional calls to urge MS Dhoni not to retire and #Donotretiredhoni trending on Twitter.
