Bottas wants to continue giving emotion to this season at Silverstone

The Finn Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) overtook his British teammate Lewis Hamilton by only six thousandths, thus achieving the pole position in the British Grand Prix, tenth round of the Formula 1 World Championship, this Saturday at Silverstone.

His record of 1 minute, 25 seconds and 93 thousandths is the new circuit record.

In the last phase of the qualifying session (Q3), Bottas signed a first better lap than Hamilton, who made a mistake. The five-time world champion did not manage to beat his teammate either in his second fast lap.

The Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) achieved the third time in the qualifying session to 79 hundredths. He will share the second line of the grid on Sunday with Dutchman Max Verstappen (Red Bull). The German Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) had to settle for the sixth fastest time, ahead of the Frenchman Pierre Gasly (Red Bull).

The Ferraris, who will take the start with soft tires, faster but less resistant, will adopt a different strategy in the race to the Mercedes and the Red Bull, with intermediate tires.

The Australian Daniel Ricciardo (Renault), the British Lando Norris (McLaren), the Thai Alexander Albon (Toro Rosso) and the German Nico Hülkenberg (Renault) complete the top-10.

The Spaniard Carlos Sainz Jr. (McLaren) could only be thirteenth and the Mexican Sergio Pérez (Racing Point) fifteenth.

The start of the race will take place on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
