Aston Villa have been linked with Southampton striker Charlie Austin this summer.
The 29-year-old has one year left on his current deal with the Saints and it has been widely reported that manager Ralph Hasenhuttl is willing to let him leave before the summer is out.
Austin, the former Swindon, Burnley and Queens Park Rangers forward has had to settle for a place on the bench in recent months after Hassenhuttl’s appointment in December.
And Villa are ‘determined’ to win the race for his signature in the coming weeks, according to the Sun.

Dean Smith has already added Wesley Moraes to his attacking ranks with Villa shelling out £22m to land the striker from Club Brugge in a club-record deal.
Sheffield United, who finished as runners-up to Norwich City in last season’s Championship, have also been linked with Austin as they prepare for life in the Premier League.
Recent reports suggested the Blades have enquired with Southampton about the player’s availability and are willing to part with around £10m to secure a transfer.
But interest from Crystal Palace, Fulham and West Brom has emerged recently in Austin, who has scored 20 goals in 76 outings for Southampton.
