GTHW Kiel and defending champion Füchse Berlin are in the final of the Handball EHF Cup. The Berlin won on Friday evening, the second semi-final against the 20-time Portuguese champions FC Porto with 24:20 (12: 8). Previously, the Kiel had prevailed with 32:26 (16:14) against the Danish representatives Team Tvis Holstebro.

The Berlin Bundesliga club, for which national player Paul Drux was the top scorer with six goals, benefited from the many mistakes made by the Portuguese. Thus, Porto awarded the first three seven-meter: Twice was Fox keeper Silvio Heinevetter on the spot, once saved the post.

Porto played almost the entire game in attack with an additional fielder for the goalkeeper. Nevertheless, the Berliners did not let their opponent approach in the second half.

The German record champion from Kiel had been struggling in the first semi-final against Holstebro for a long time. "In the second half, the defense was better, and we came to fast-paced goals," said THW coach Alfred Gislason. Left Wing Rune Dahmke added: "We had more energy in the end." The final of the EHF Cup will kick off at 20.45 on Saturday. Earlier (6 pm) Team Tvis Holstebro and FC Porto are in third place.

Berlin's Hans Lindberg (center) lays his hands across the air to secure his entry into the final.
