-

Los Angeles – The North American Basketball League (NBA) on Friday suspended Indiana leader Tyreke Evans for two years because of a violation of the drug and doping substances regulation.

"Tyreke Evans was dismissed and disqualified by the NBA for failing to comply with the terms of the drug program", said the NBA, without giving further details.

"Under the drug program, Evans will be able to apply for reinstatement in two years"she added.

Indiana, for its part, said in a brief statement that "took these issues seriously":"We will contact Tyreke to offer our support", explained the Pacers, eliminated in the first round of play-offs 2019 by Boston (4-0).

Evans, 29, finished the 2018-19 season with averages of 10.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.

He joined the Pacers last summer after four seasons in Sacramento (2009-13), three and a half seasons in New Orleans (2013-17), a few months back in Sacramento (2017) and a season in Memphis (2017-18).

He was elected best "rookie"(beginner) of the 2009-10 season.
