Barcelona vs. Real Madrid starting XI: Bale and Marcelo sit; Messi and Suarez start while Coutinho moves to bench

Not long to go now until Real Madrid and Barcelona face off in the Copa del Rey semifinal second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu. It’s the first of two Clasicos this week, with the clubs meeting again on Saturday in La Liga action as Los Blancos look to get back into the title race. But first, one team will move on to face either Valencia or Real Betis in the final. The match is set for 3 p.m. ET and will air on fuboTV (Try for free).

You can find our match preview here and here are five things to know about this game.

Here are the starting lineups:

Barcelona XI: Marc-Andre Ter Stegen; Nelson Semedo, Gerard Pique, Clement Lenglet, Jordi Alba; Ivan Rakitic, Sergio Busquets, Sergi Roberto; Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele.

Analysis: Once again Philippe Coutinho doesn’t make the starting XI as the Brazilian has found it difficult to consistently start. It’s Dembele who begins the game down the left flank where he’ll look to get behind the right back who will push forward. Sergi Roberto gets the start over Arthur as Ernesto Valverde looks to be a bit more defensive in the middle.

Real Madrid XI: Keylor Navas; Sergio Reguilon, Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, Dani Carvajal; Toni Kroos, Casemiro, Luka Modric; Vinicius Junior, Karim Benzema, Lucas Vazquez.

Analysis: Gareth Bale is on the bench once again. Lucas gets the start on the right flank to repeat the front three from the first leg. A bit of a surprise, Marcelo starts the game on the bench with Reguilon getting the nod.

Real Madrid vs. Barcelona – Football Match Report – February 27, 2019

A clinical Barcelona beat Real Madrid 3-0 away in an intense Copa del Rey semi-final, second leg on Wednesday as a Luis Suarez double helped them secure a 4-1 aggregate victory and a spot in the final for the sixth straight season.

A dominant yet wasteful Real ravaged their rivals in the first half while spurning a string of clear chances at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Yet Barca went ahead against the run of play in the 50th minute as Ousmane Dembele led a counter-attack and Suarez slotted his pass into the net.

Spearheaded by the pace and confidence of Brazilian teenager Vinicius Jr, Madrid continued to fly forward but failed to find the target.

Barca effectively killed off the tie when Raphael Varane bundled the ball into his own net as he tried to prevent Suarez reaching another cross from Dembele.

Suarez then earned a penalty and further humiliated Madrid by converting with an audacious ‘Panenka’, deceiving goalkeeper Keylor Navas by chipping the ball into the net.

La Liga leaders Barca will visit Real again in the league on Saturday.

The Catalans, who are bidding to win the trophy for a record fifth consecutive year, will play either Real Betis or Valencia in the final on May 25 at Betis’ Benito Villamarin stadium.

Valencia host Betis in their second leg on Thursday, having drawn 2-2 in the first leg.

Barca coach Ernesto Valverde attempted to neutralise the threat of Vinicius by deploying right-sided defenders Sergi Roberto and Nelson Semedo to protect the left flank but the Brazilian was still the most dangerous player in the first half.

Vinicius could have won a penalty when Semedo clattered into him and had three clear chances to score before the interval, failing to hit the target twice from inside the area, and being thwarted by Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.

He continued to dance his way through Barca’s defence after the break but his final touch let him down.

Shortly after Suarez’s opener, he cut into the box and delivered a cross which Sergio Reguilon met with a diving header, but Ter Stegen flew across his goal to repel the effort.

Madrid, who were also beaten 3-0 by Barca at the Bernabeu in La Liga last season and were thrashed 5-1 by their rivals back in October, lost their heads after that chance and there was no coming back following Varane’s own goal.

Barca seemed to relish their role as Real’s tormentors and Suarez took the ball from usual penalty taker Lionel Messi to complete their fourth victory in five visits to the Bernabeu with an ice-cool finish from the spot.

Indonesia Says at Least 3 Killed, 60 Feared Buried in Illegal Mine Landslide

Indonesian officials said on Feb. 26 dozens of rescuers were using spades and ropes to dig out more than 60 people who were feared buried by the collapse of an illegal gold mine on the island of Sulawesi that killed at least three.

Rescuers said they could hear the voices of some of those trapped in makeshift mining shafts in a muddy hillside in the Bolaang Mongondow area of North Sulawesi province and believed many were still alive.

“We are able to detect that many of them are still alive because we can hear their voices, as there are some places where air is getting in and out and there are gaps in the mud,” Abdul Muin Paputungan of Indonesia’s disaster agency told Reuters by phone.

At least three bodies had been found and 15 people rescued by 8 a.m local time on Wednesday after the mine collapsed the previous evening, according to the disaster mitigation agency and media reports.

The Indonesian government has banned such small-scale gold mining, although regional authorities often turn a blind eye to the practice in more remote areas. With little regulation, the mines are prone to accidents.

Search-and-rescue teams and military officers were working together but using simple tools such as spades and rope because conditions remained dangerous, with the land still prone to shifting and sliding, Paputungan said.

He said the families of victims had started gathering at the mine site to wait for news.

Photos released by the agency showed rescue workers and villagers on a muddy hillside scrambling to pull out survivors and carry them away on stretchers during the night.

Disaster agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said dozens of people were mining for gold when beams and support boards broke suddenly.

“Evacuation efforts continued through the night because of the number of people estimated to be buried,” he said.

Chelsea vs. Tottenham Hotspur – Football Match Report – February 27, 2019

Chelsea put their tumultuous League Cup final defeat behind them to revive their top-four hopes with a 2-0 victory over stuttering Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

Under-pressure manager Maurizio Sarri made the bold decision to drop goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga in favour of Willy Caballero after the Spaniard’s antics against Manchester City at Wembley on Sunday when he refused to be substituted.

But Chelsea showed they are still behind the Italian with a deserved victory over their London rivals thanks to Pedro’s opener midway through the second half and a comical Kieran Trippier own goal late on.

Chelsea remained in sixth spot, three points behind fourth-placed Arsenal having played a game less.

Third-placed Tottenham’s slim title hopes now look extinguished after a second successive league defeat and they could have few complaints after a disappointing derby display.

Gonzalo Higuain was denied by the post early on for Chelsea while Spurs midfielder Harry Winks rattled the crossbar just before halftime.

Pedro fired Chelsea in front in the 57th minute, turning inside Toby Alderweireld before beating Hugo Lloris from a tight angle.

Tottenham huffed and puffed but shot themselves in the foot in the 84th minute when Trippier and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris got in a tangle and the full-back’s attempted back pass rolled in.

Tottenham are four points above Arsenal, who they host on Saturday, and five points above Manchester United.

Barcelona vs Real Madrid score: Suarez, Messi and the company running from Los Blancos in Copa del Rey semifinal

Barcelona is on to the final of Copa del Rey after Real Madrid's final draw on Wednesday. In the second leg semifinal, and the first leg finishing 1-1, Barca entered the Bernabeu Santiago and scored all his goals in the second half out of a massive 3-0 victory, progressing 4-1 overall. Luis Suarez scored twice, Raphael Varane had his own goal and Barca replied after a slow start gave all chances for Real to lead. Here are three shoppers from the game:

Real Madrid benefited from this

The truth of this one really blew. They went in as the underdog, but the first half was steep only in front of the target. Real Real clearly surpassed Barcelona in the first half and may have gone up with the 3-0 break, and, at least, it should be 1-0. Los Blancos created many unfinished chances, and a little golden chance trying Vinicius Junior. There were shots that went high and wide, Marc-Andre ter Stegen made some amazing saws, and Real frustrated in a game that he thought he could win based on the start.

Barca then returns in a big way

In the first half, Barca did not attack. It was difficult to note that some of the stars were playing because Real Madrid was causing them a lot of trouble, especially down the left. For the first half of all, he always felt that Real would score first, but that's why you have to take your chances against Barca. But it was not meant to be, and then when Barca got the leg, did not let it up. Going down the left hand side, with Dani Carvajal up the field for Real, Barca scored three goals in 24 minutes.

Here is the winner from Suarez.

Suarez penalty "Panenka" scored to seal it.

Vinicius is the next big thing after Ronaldo at Real

Look, Real is not the same without Cristiano Ronaldo and probably won't win a trophy this season. This was the best opportunity for the team. But a boy do have something in Vinicius. The young Brazilian could reach Ronaldo level one day based on what we have seen early. He has an incredible speed and path work, he has a great sense of place and the victory that shows fans' hearts. Apart from Kylian Mbappe, he may be the most exciting young player in the world.

He got a room to definitely grow and he will have to develop his finishes, especially when running to diagonally across the box. But Balon's winner has written him all, giving hope for Real Madrid for the future.

Final game Copa del Rey

Barca meets Real again in the play of La Liga on Saturday, and Messi's squad moves on to the end of May 25 Copa del Rey (both available on fuboTV) where they will be joined by Valencia or Real Betis. They meet on Thursday in the second leg. Valencia went to Betis and got a 2-in-a-second draw in the first stage.

Texas Rangers: Forsythe must play a short course to make a roster

Manager Rangers Chris Woodward is preparing for Choo to be a leadoff hitter

Texas Rangers manager Chris Woodward hopes Shin Soo Choo will try to get his pioneer driver.

Texas Rangers manager Chris Woodward hopes Shin Soo Choo will try to get his pioneer driver.

The most recent part of the Texas Rangers spring roster has been played in the major competitions since 2011 and more than 100 games have taken place over the past five seasons.

However, Logan Forsythe, like many other free agents, was sitting at home when spring training started earlier this month. He reached the end of last weekend's point when he knew it was time to go into a camp to start the preparation for the game 162 season.

The Texas Rangers were one of the teams that kept him tabs, and he agreed that a big league spring training would be dealt with Tuesday until the mini-league. He could be in a game as early as this weekend.

It is also an indication that the Curators could have a utility infibrillator who can play the center rather than get back the third Cabrera asdrubal coin to Elvis Andrus's shortstop and the second base of Rougned Odor.

Learning a third learning base without working in other returnable jobs is quite a high task.

“He gives us a choice,” said manager Chris Woodward. “I am confident that the backup stamp is Cabrera, but playing the third base and using that kind of work and then going to a short leg for a week if Elvis was going down, I think it is that's uncommon for Asdrubal. ”

Forsythe comes to a camp with two faces they know, and they will have significant roles in the team. The coach Woodward and the striker were coaches on the Forsythe final team, the Los Angeles Dodgers, while Woodward Forsythe trained in 2017 with the Dodgers.

That can not hurt.

“The quality of people here is the easiest choice,” said Forsythe. “The time we spent together in LA, we developed a very good relationship. They are very transparent about your role and what to do. I have already talked to Woody about this and gave me an insight into where I will stand this spring and what I have to work on. ”

Forsythe will be a utility adapter if he does the team, and he needs to be able to play a short leg so that he can do that. Of its 815 MLB games, only 21 were short-foot and only 13 started.

He is confident that he can play there after spending more time on foot in the minors. Woodward also has confidence, having spent time with Forsythe, who opened 2018 with the Minnesota Twins, both seasons last season.

“I have had lots of fungi, so I can see it in life,” said Woodward. “It's really, very good at the second base and very good at the third base. I have seen a short foot. I didn't see it in games. I told him that I must see it in terms of playing a game that position. This is our greatest requirement, as far as a backup backup is concerned. ”

Tottenham’s actions mirror similar complaints by Chelsea after their trip to Catalonia last season.

Chelsea’s case remains unresolved but there has been more movement in the Spurs allegations.

Uefa have now confirmed that, following a probe by their ethics and disciplinary inspector, Barcelona have been charged with “insufficient organisation” at the game.

It is likely the case, which will be dealt with by Uefa on March 28, will result in only a small fine for the Spanish giants.
