13-10. El Mediterrani joins Sabadell and Mataró in the quarter-finals

Mediterrani has completed the Catalan plenary session in Budapest (Hungary) after beating Greek Ethnikos 13-10 and moving to the Euroleague quarterfinals as first groupadding Mataró and Sabadell.

Marian Diaz’s team was already classified after the two victories against Glyfada and UVSE Budapest and also as first after Ethnikos lost against Glyfada on Saturday night.

The first quarter saw the best minutes for the Greeks, who took a 1-3 lead in what would later become a mirage.

The Barcelonans nailed it in the second quarter with a 5-0 runin which a double from Ana Marcos stood out, to seal the 6-3 halfway through the match.

The lead stabilized at three goals in a third quarter that ended 9-6 and always with the feeling of having the game under control.

In the last period the difference widened to five (11-6) for a subsequent Greek reaction in the final stretch of the clash for the final 13-10.

The Mediterranean closes a second phase of groups to frame and after many years it is once again among the eight best in Europe.
